Inside Llewyn Davis

Inside Llewyn Davis is a major departure for the Coen Brothers.

Focussing on a down and out couch surfer (maybe not such a major departure there) the film follows a struggling folk musician through a week of his life.

Certainly not for everyone due to its slow pace and use of full song performances but notable for some incredible performances (Oscar Isaac is capable of making us feel compassion for this selfish character) and brilliant music.

Not what you'd expect from the Coen's but a fantastic character portrait.

4 stars ****
