Gone Girl

Gone Girl is one of the most anticipated films of the year with uncontrollable levels of hype.
This is somewhat peculiar because it's a standalone movie based on a crime novel and with only one big name lead (albeit a massive director in David Fincher.)
I'll cut to the chase and you'll be pleased to hear that this delivers on all that talk.
Now, I haven't read Gillian Flynn's novel I will admit (although I will now!) but, unlike other similar movies like The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (excellent though that is), you really don't need to have read the text to follow the flow of the film.
Fincher doesn't try and confuse anybody using very clearly signposted flashbacks to drive his thriller along.
The twists and turns are as unpredictable as you would want and the performances superb; this really keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire two and a half hour run time.
I won't give anything away here you just have to see it for yourself. The ending proper is maybe a tad disappointing considering the length but, to be honest, it couldn't really be changed and I may change my opinion once I've read the source text but, at this point in time, this is way up there in the best of the year so far.
